I have a friend who recently told me a story about a man he knew who lost everything he had because of a house fire. The man did not have insurance and had no time to retrieve any of his personal belongings. Sitting around the remains of his smoldering house, the man, rather than cursing, was singing, happy that he had not been a victim of the fire that claimed his home (and almost his life.)
As my friend told me this story, I found myself thinking about the little things in life that we take for granted each day and counting my blessings. I wanted to share that story with you so that I could provide an ounce of perspective ...
In every difficult moment, it is likely true that you have gone through something even more difficult before (and survived.) It is also likely true that you will go through something more difficult in the future. In those two truths are strength for the present, difficult moment.
I ask you to reflect on both the past and what is ahead because in between those two places is perspective. You are strong enough to endure your present and future challenges.
Let's all take a moment today to reflect on our lives.
